Redirecting Problems
-
Okay my original blog’s URL was drhiphop85.wordpress.com. I changed it recently to thedrhiphop.wordpress.com. Today I purchased the domain thedrhiphop.com. I found out that people were trying to visit my site from the drhiphop85.wordpress.com URL but it’s not redirecting it to my new thedrhiphop.com URL. I purchased the redirect but it’s still not doing what I want. What do I have to do so that if someone puts in “drhiphop85.wordpress.com” in their browser it will redirect them to my new domain of “thedrhiphop.com”? Please let me know, I’m losing so many views.
Blog url: http://thedrhiphop.wordpress.com/ -
That’s happening because you deleted drhiphop85.wordpress.com when you changed the name to thedrhiphop.wordpress.com. You can add a site redirect for thedrhiphop.wordpress.com but you cannot add one for the deleted drhiphop85.wordpress.com blog.

Thank you for responding. So essentially there is no way that I can make it so that when people enter “drhiphop85” they’ll be redirected to “thedrhiphop”?

Thank you. So a final question: if I create a new website (drhiphop85.com) and purchase the domain, can I transfer everything to that sight? And how do I do it?

Yeah, the domain will basically replace the WordPress.com URL for the blog. There’s no transferring involved.
