Redirecting url without domain mapping

I am wondering if this is a domain-side thing, but wanted to check to see if it’s something I need to do on WordPress.com’s end. I am looking to have a domain “point” towards my WordPress.com website. I understand about domain mapping, but the extra $18/yr is more than I’m up to right now and just want to be able to start directing people to a consistent url for now.
Would this be something I would need to do from the domain side of things? I’m planning to go through name.com for the domain. Will I need any IP information? Thanks!

Apologies if this has been answered before, I didn’t see it.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No one knows this? Should I just contact the domain host?

Domain mapping is $ 13.– if you own the domain name – or $ 18.– for the domain name registration & mapping.

You can from name.com probably do domain forwarding – so the domain name will send people to your blog – BUT when they get to your blog they will see the WordPress.COM URL unless you do some sort of masking also – but if you mask visitors have trouble getting the URL to a specific post if they want to send the URL of a Post to a friend – since the base URL is mask – no free lunch and no free search engine identity

That was what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure. Not worried about any ‘free lunch’ or anything like that. Thanks!
