Redirection does not work
-
I recently moved my wordpress.com blog to my own domain. I purchased redirection to not break the links from other people posts to my posts, and from social media shares et.c.
Surprisingly, the redirect didn’t ask me for anything except the new webaddress, so I expected it to automatically redirect all the links.
However, it doesn’t: the links all go to 404 error pages.
I therefore tried changing the permalink addresses of the posts on the new address to those shown in the address bar of the 404 pages. That made the links go to 303 error pages instead, which is better (albeit still not perfect), BUT: the posts could then not be accessed at all until I changed the permalinks back to the defaults. The links then of course went to 404 error pages again.
I would like to fix it ASAP so I don’t loose the ingoing links. Since I have opted to discourage search engines from the new domain (wanting only relevant traffic), those links give most if not all the traffic I get to my older posts.
So please assist with getting this fixed as soon as possible, I am paying for this service (the redirection.
Thank you.
Anna

In order for the Site Redirect to work, the permalink structure on each of your sites needs to be the same:

Please change the permalink structure for your WordPress installation at your new host. The following page should assist you:
