redirects and permalinks

  Hi there, we have created a new WordPress site on a 3rd party server. I now want to redirect our old site to a specific page within the new site.

  I know that the permalink structure needs to be the same, but I’m unsure what this actually means. The current site is https://thewantagemix.wordpress.com/ and I want it to redirect to its own section within the new site which is https://sustainablewantage.org.uk/?page_id=24.

  Is this going to work?

  Hi there,

  You’d need to have a redirect on our end first:
  https://wordpress.com/domains/add/site-redirect/

  That will automatically send a link like /2020/04/10/covid-19-the-mix-and-free-food-delivery/ to the same link on the new site. If you have SEO with the old site, I’d recommend doing that, and exporting and importing all of the content so it’ll work:
  https://move.wordpress.com

  Still, if you’d like, once you have the redirect, you could have your host redirect all of that traffic to a single page.
