Redirects only hitting the main page
-
Hi,
I just bought the redirect from my old blog http://www.blueflamemagick.wordpress.com to my new page http://www.blueflamemagick.com
Unfortunately everything on my old blog is redirecting to the main page of my blog, not the corresponding post that I’ve imported.
There is a difference in the URL that I’m not sure if that’s the problem or how to fix it
The original is https://blueflamemagick.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/sex-with-angels/
The new one is http://www.blueflamemagick.com/index.php/2011/07/14/sex-with-angels/
I tried setting my redirect for http://www.blueflamemagick.com/index.php but that didn’t fix it.
Anyone have any idea what to do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, I’ve tagged WordPress.com staff to help you with this issue. You’ll likely receive a response within a few hours from a staff member: https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question
Hope this gets resolved soon. :)

Hi –
The redirect looks to be working appropriately.
When I try to visit https://blueflamemagick.wordpress.com it automatically redirects to http://www.blueflamemagick.com/ in my browser.
Write back if you have any other questions about this. Seems to be all working.

Thanks Torres.
Thanks lizkarkoski, but that’s not what the problem I mention. Everything is only redirecting to my new main page, not to the specific pages and posts it should.
For instance again here is a blog post from my old site.
The original is https://blueflamemagick.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/sex-with-angels/
When you click it you’re brought to my new main page bluelfmaemagick.com, not to that post on my new page.
The new one is http://www.blueflamemagick.com/index.php/2011/07/14/sex-with-angels/
So https://blueflamemagick.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/sex-with-angels/ should redirect to to http://www.blueflamemagick.com/index.php/2011/07/14/sex-with-angels/ but instead just goes to blueflamemagick.com
The new address has an /index.php/ which might be part of the problem, but setting the redirect to blueflamemagick.com/index.php didn’t fix that.

That is the problem, yes. The site redirect upgrade can redirect to the same posts on the new site, provided you use the same permalink structure on that site as you do on WordPress.com. But you are using a different permalink structure, so the site redirect won’t work properly.
We explain this in the support document on this upgrade, here:
If you don’t want to use the same permalink structure as you used on WordPress.com, you might be able to set something up on your end using a plugin or something, but from this end there’s nothing we can do to make this work. To find out if there are any options you can use on your new site, please ask in the self-hosted WordPress forums:
