Reduce Photograph Size When Using IOS App
-
Over the last two weeks I’ve been writing one-photograph posts using the WordPress App on my iPhone. It’s been a way of updating my blog whilst I’ve been travelling in Japan.
However, I’ve found one thing I don’t like about the app, you cant reduce the file size that is uploaded as media to the blog. Each iPhone photograph is using 4Mb of media storage.
Does anyone know how to reduce the file size down to a more acceptable level?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Yep, you can edit the image size.
Try these steps:
1. Start a new post
2. Insert a media item
3. Hold your finger down on the image, it should highlight with a blue opacity
4. From the menu select Edit
5. Open the Size option
6. Try the medium option. -
I just tried that and whilst it reduces the file size in Mb down from 4 to 2, it also reduces the image size in pixels considerably.
Using the desktop editor I scaled the image down to 2048 pixels on the long side which reduced the file size in Mb to about 256kb which is a far more acceptable size for a photograph on a blog page which is about photography.
So I suppose what I’m really asking is instead of just using Medium, Large, etc can the app be modified to let us scale the pixel size of the image size and also the file size in Mb/Kb.
If there is a feature request forum maybe this should be moved there?

Hi there,
You can post a request in the official WordPress for iOS forum:

That link takes me to a WordPress.org forum and would require me to register a new account.
