Reduced SEO After Upgrading
-
Hello, all,
I may be wrong and perhaps something else is going on, but I recently upgraded my domain hosting service so that ads no longer appear on my site/blog, and I noticed a drastic reduction in my Search Engine ratings. Granted, something else could be occurring but this seems highly coincidental. Anyone have experience with this?

Hi there, did you also add a new domain name as a part of your upgrade plan? Essentially that creates a new address for your site and it will take a while for search engines to catch up with the change. You can help matters along by adding/verifying your new domain in your search engine dashboards. More about this here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console
If that didn’t answer your question, just post back here or as you have an upgrade plan you can also get direct support via live chat and email when you post in your dashboard at https://wordpress.com/help/contact

JustJennifer, no, my domain name has stayed the same for about seven, maybe eight years now.

To be sure, I don’t think anyone has mentioned that their search engine rankings were negatively affected by the *removal* of ads from their site.
Let’s tag this thread for Staff input.

First, to be clear, we absolutely no control over how search engines choose to rank your site.
Search engines are constantly changing how they weigh certain factors in their index.
In this case, I recommend monitoring your site in Google’s Search Console for specific details: https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console
