Reducing Image File Size in Media Library

    Hello!

I have a relatively new blog, and up until recently I have been uploading full (or almost full) size images on my blog. Unwise, I know.

Obviously, my media allotment is getting eaten up quickly. I plan to upload reduced image files going forward, but I’m wondering if there is a way to easily scale down the photos I already have in the media library, or do I have to manually replace each photo in each post with a new, reduced upload? In that same vein, is there a way to insure that the URL is the same as the previous image URL (so that sites that have linked to my image don’t get messed up?)

    Thanks for your help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You cannot modify files you have uploaded: you can only upload replacements then delete the originals. And no, they cannot have the same URL.

Thanks for the info, justpi. I appreciate it!

You can always just open a new blog and upload to it and use it for hotlinking.

Thank you raincoaster, I had not thought of that option. I am going back and slowly replacing my images with smaller ones, but that is a good option to consider in the future. Thanks.
