Reducing spacing between sections on home page

  Hi
  I was wondering if it is possible using CSS to reduce the spacing between sections (widgets and testimonials) on the home page of my website. I would also like to reduce the amount of white space on the text box over the main image on the home page. Is this possible?
  (P.S Very new to CSS!!)
