Reducing very large jpg image files
-
Hi there
I have some very large image files 23,000+ pixels which I need to reduce to be able to display in posts. I would ideally like to display a number of images side by side. The media editing software in WordPress can’t cope with the size of the files and so when I try to scale down the size of the image the timer just goes round and round. I’ve tried reducing the size of the file in photoshop but the image just goes really pixelated.
I’m using the twenty twelve theme.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?

What you want to do is best done locally on your PC before uploading to any site, which is why I mentioned that program.

See here for free desktop image editing program links https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/reducing-very-large-jpg-image-files?replies=4
There are free also online image editing programs you can use.

Photoshop is a professional image editing application. What you’re saying means you’re not using the program correctly. -

@magicandmedicine1
You’re welcome. I use free online image editors to pre-size every image to fit the space I intend to embed it into before I upload it into my blog. Doping that means there’s no loss of image quality and no waste of my uploads space.
