referrer has a blocked out rectangle that’s empty

  What does it mean when there is a rectangular space that’s blanked out under “referrer”? Usually, if there is no referrer, the space is empty and you don’t see a rectangular space at all. If there is a referrer, you see the rectangle with the name of the referrer. Thanks-
