Referrers are not right
-
Since about a week I’ve started noticing, that referrers for my blog gorskimoz.wordpress.com are not right. I post links on Facebook and one other site (www.kulinarika.net), but in referrers I see only Facebook and only some of the links from Kulinarika.net, but I know (and tried it myself on several browsers) that people come to my blog from there.
What can be wrong? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There are many reasons why visitors from a specific site won’t show up in referrer stats. Most commonly, if a user is using a VPN, the TOR browser, or any privacy browser plugin to prevent them from being tracked, those can prevent us from seeing where their traffic is coming from. Some ISPs might also be routing traffic in such a way that the information is lost by the time the visitor comes to your site.
If you saw no referrers at all from that site that might have pointed to a problem, but many websites also intentionally use link-obscuring services like href.li to hide them as the source of traffic to other sites.
As there are some referrals showing from kulinarika.net it’s clear they don’t use any link-obscuring, but it also means we don’t have a problem tracking referrals from them – the stats are working as they should.
That leaves visitors to your site deliberately obscuring their own traffic for privacy reasons or this being something done by their ISPs. We can’t do anything about that :)

Hi!
I can’t agree. It was working fine until last week. Yesterday for example, I’ve got over 400 views of my posts on blog, but there are only 13 referrers: 8 from Facebook, 3 from search engines and 2 from Kulinarika.net.
My posts which I’ve shared on Kulinarika received over 350 views. I don’t believe that majority of visitors are obscuring their traffic. A week or two ago everything in referres section was fine. My blog is new, so I know that I get most visitors from links I share. -
Yesterday for example, I’ve got over 400 views of my posts on blog, but there are only 13 referrers:
Not everyone who visits your site is referred there from a specific source. People who type the link directly into their browser aren’t being referred, so won’t show under your referrer stats.
And stats fluctuate. Just because you got x number of referrals last week doesn’t mean you’ll get the same number of referrals this week.

I work in IT and know how stats for webpages work.
I’m pretty sure that visitors don’t type links into their browsers. I just wanted to point out, that refferers were accurate two weeks ago, but now they’re not. So something must be wrong.
