Referrers – what are those dots on the new page?
-
I didn’t know what the little dots were to the right of the referrers. So I clicked on it, and its said SPAM. I hope that doesn’t mean that I have now blocked by major source of referrals?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You marked the referrer as “spam” – that will hide any numbers from that referrer from view – you will still get the traffic from the referrer and the page views will show up in your stats –
there is a small window I think to reverse the click
I will flag this for the staff – maybe they can reverse the “spam” click if you want

See here please:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#referrers
http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/#marking-spam-referrersIf you change your mind right away, you can click the “Undo” link that appears where the Spam? link was previously. However, once you have navigated away from the stats page, you will not be able to undo the action later.
If you mistakenly mark a site as spam, this will not affect your site’s visits or stats count; it only will keep that referrer from appearing on your stats page.
Marking spam referrers as spam referrers simply removes the reporting from your stats. It does not block them. The bottom line here is bloggers cannot block spam referrers on WordPress.COM hosted blogs.

This should be spelled out to bloggers right away. The referrer I clicked on is my strongest source of new readers. I need to track those referrals. I need a reverse button!!!
-
It is spelled out in support documentation at the links I provided.
It’s spelled out in support forum threads https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/spam-referrer-reporting?replies=3I think the assumption is that we search read relevant support docs and threads before we act.

I tried “unspamming” and I think it worked. However… I am still confused as to whether the little dots mean I HAVE marked them as SPAM or HAVE NOT.
-
Hooray! As this thread is tagged for Staff they will answer that question when they work their way forward to this thread.

@notquiteold – Could you clarify the URL that you’re referring to? I’m happy to see if this is marked as spam or not on your stats page!
-
I think I am okay, but I would be grateful if you would check – it’s

Sorry for not being more clear! What is the URL of the referrer you think you may have inadvertently marked as spam?
-
-
Doesn’t look like that one is marked as spam for your account so it should continue appearing in your referrers! Let us know if you have any additional trouble.
