Refund

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,
I’m a bit disappointed. I upgraded BECAUSE i thought i needed to in order to use plug-ins. When I upgraded per the link in the plug-in box wordpress.com – it didn’t get me anywhere. SO, i searched for more info…and found i need to use the wordpress.org. or something like that. I certainly want a refund as this has been a terrible experience in dealing with this service. i’m sure others are finding it useful, i find it not… please help.
    Todd
PS. funny how the CONTACT US page is NOT contacting anyone…this is sort of where the internet sucks.

Know that if you cancel your domain and you purchased it through wordpress.com, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it so if you want to keep it and use it on another site please let Staff know that.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

This isn’t helping. I paid $26 to get a site and url. THEN I paid $79 to upgrade as I thought I needed to do so. NOW it’s telling me I will be refunded $99.

I want to keep my original plan…isn’t there anyone that can help?

I already tagged this thread with modlook in the sidebar for a Staff follow-up. I can do no more than that. This thread is in their queue.

  • Hi there,

I understand the confusion and frustration. Plugins are already incorporated into WordPress.com sites. They cannot be installed like self-hosted WordPress.org sites.

For the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, please visit our support page:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

I can definitely refund you for the purchases you made. However, I see that you registered insidesalesoutsourced.com . So that we are on the same page, once you decide to cancel your domain, there is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it.

If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page.

For more information on using the domain elsewhere, please see:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/

If you want to retain the domain, I can still refund you the difference, which would be $73.

Just wanted to give you a heads up!

Let me know if you want to proceed with the cancelation.

    Thanks!

    Hi Darnell,
Thanks for your help on this. Can you tell me if I will have a refund AND keep my wordpress.com site? I just don’t want PREMIUM.
    Does this make sense?
Appreciate your help. I didn’t realize when I signed up for this site it was not a true company with support; rather depends on kind folks like yourself to deal with shortcomings.

    Regards,
    Todd

Hi i just cancelled my premium and domain mapping, and now for some reason even after changing all the dns settings from the domain provider I can’t seem to get the domain away from wordpress.

  • Hi there Todd,

Yes, I can refund you for your premium purchase yet keep your WordPress.com site. Your WordPress.com site is free. However, you can also keep your domain insidesalesoutsourced.com registered with us as well and I can subtract the amount of the domain from the refund of the premium service ($26). Would you like to proceed with keeping the domain as well? Otherwise, I’d be happy to refund you the full $99 charge.

Appreciate your help. I didn’t realize when I signed up for this site it was not a true company with support; rather depends on kind folks like yourself to deal with shortcomings.

For WordPress.org, you are correct – there is not a central company with support. Usually, you will contact your site/domain host or https://wordpress.org/support/ if you encounter issues. However, with WordPress.com (which is a product from the company Automattic), you can always contact us here in the forums or via https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/.

I (along with all of the other Happiness Engineers) are employed to support you and the WordPress.com product. I’d be glad to assist you in whatever you need. We also have wonderful and knowledgeable volunteers who also assist our users here in the forums.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

    Hi Darnell,
Thank you! However, I had paid for the site…THEN upgraded to Premium. So, I think this is the situation…
I bought the domain+ other free services on
    Dec 26, 2015 Multiple items
    $26.00

Then, I paid an additional $79 for Premium to get plug-ins which based on the site processes… this $79 is the error. Can you refund this? THen I keep my domain, correct?

    Dec 28, 2015 WordPress.com Premium

    $79.00

  • Can you refund this? THen I keep my domain, correct?

    Hey there,

Not a problem! I have canceled your premium plan and refunded the charges of $79 back to you. It can take between 7-10 business days for the refund to reflect on your bank statement. Yes, you domain remains active with us despite the cancellation of the premium plan.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Take care,
