Refund
-
I upgraded from a personal plan to a premium plan for which the cost of the personal plan was deducted from the cost of a premium plan. After cancelling the premium plan, I was refunded the reduced cost…and dropped down to a free plan. This means that I have purchased a personal plan which I am now not able to access. There is no way of contacting WordPress, which seems to be a new (and totally messed up) feature.
I have had to subscribe and cancel again JUST TO HAVE A WAY OF CONTACTING WORDPRESS since the site wouldn’t let me post in the forum. Is this really the best you can do in terms of customer service?! Shameful. WordPress has really gone downhill.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I suppose not many people downgrade plans so you’ll need staff assistance. Usually you get a refund for a plan if less than 30 days has elapsed since you bought it. Did you set up your Personal plan more than 30 days ago? Perhaps your Personal plan can still be restored. To get help from staff you need to type modlook into the tag box to the right.
PS: Multiple posts with the same question is frowned on here and doesn’t speed up your getting assistance.
-
…I did not post multiple times. I kept getting a message saying that my topic hadn’t posted and kept trying to repost. I’m not a spammer, I was just unaware that WordPress had some sort of glitch that was saying my topic hadn’t posted when it apparently had. This makes me even more reluctant to continue to use this site.
I did not set up my Personal plan more than 30 days ago. I am aware of what the refund policy is, which is why I am trying to get my money refunded, particularly in light of how glitchy the site is.

Also, you could have just pointed out the issue and suggested I delete the duplicate posts instead of commenting “duplicate post” on all of them. I’m just a frustrated person trying to communicate with a glitchy website that has no customer service. I’m not trying to spam the site but when there are no other ways of getting support my options are rather limited.
-
My apologies. That does seem to happen sometimes. Forum etiquette is to mark duplicates as otherwise you may get five different replies from five different people and it makes life difficult for staff to resolve issues. I’m sure staff will be able help you. (I don’t think we can delete our own posts in these forums.)

Thanks for trying to help! I was getting pretty frazzled because every time I made a post it said that it didn’t go through so I got progressively more abrasive as the afternoon wore on.
This seems like a massive glitch for a major site whose sole system of customer communication is via forums. The last time I owned a site powered by WordPress there were better ways to get in contact with them which was part of the reason I wanted to host my website here, but that’s looking like quite the bleak option at this point.
-
Of course the irony is that if you still had an active plan you could get live chat support. Being currently on a free plan (hopefully temporarily) you have to wait for staff to work through earlier “tickets” like us mere mortals…
-
Hm…I might just purchase another plan then. Although now I’m worried that I’ll just be throwing the money away. I wanted to keep my personal plan, but when I cancelled the premium plan I thought it would simply cancel the recent upgrade (there simply weren’t enough bells and whistles to make it worth the extra cost) but it downgraded me all the way down to a free plan without refunding the money I paid for the personal plan.
I wanted to keep the personal plan (purchased yesterday, well under the thirty day limit) but after all of these issues I’ve lost a lot of faith in WordPress.

All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/ where the search box is prominently placed.
Refunds https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/ are time limited.
- WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
- The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
- It takes from 1 – 2 weeks or 7 – 10 business days for the refund to be received after your request one.
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account
You can manage all of your WordPress.com purchases by navigating to the Me section of WordPress.com and then choosing the option to Manage Purchases from the sidebar.
Select any purchase in order to view options for managing it. The options available will be different based on the upgrade you choose.

re: Getting WordPress.com Support
As I posted above all support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/, and that link is found on every page in this site, and on the bottom of every Admin page on every blog hosted here, and and at the bottom of every support forum thread and page.
Go to https://en.support.wordpress.com/ and type in Getting WordPress.com Support into the search box and click https://en.support.wordpress.com/?s=Getting+WordPress.com+Support+
Results: Getting WordPress.com Support https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/
Using the support docs search box produces: How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question
If you wish to contact Staff on any matter rather than posting details into a support thread like this one, and tagging a support thread with modlook please read on.
There is no phone support. Those who have a paid upgrade for a wordpress.COM site can use the “Contact Support” form, http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
However, some say the best WordPress.COM contact form to use now for Staff assistance is: http://wordpress.com/help/contact
Live chat will be available there only if we have Happiness Engineers available to chat. https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/ When they are not available using that link results in posting to this peer support forum.
re: direct email support
Also note, that you can email WordPress.COM Staff at:
[email protected] -
the site wouldn’t let me post in the forum.
That is extremely strange. Perhaps you have a browser related issue. There are tips in this support doc https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
-
I am aware of all of the policies. The issue is not in requesting a refund or not understanding the refund policy but rather with WordPress only issuing a partial refund while downgrading me to a free plan.
I have posted in the forum as this is what I was told to do to get help, but I need to speak with someone from WordPress as the issues are entirely on their end and this is not something troubleshooting will solve.
I have also already sent an email as that was the old system in place for communication and I hoped that someone may read it.
While I appreciate the time taken to respond, I do not need help from the community but rather a response from WordPress, unless a community member is somehow either able to issue a full refund or restore my personal plan.

Hi @christinemariedixon, thanks for getting in touch. Looks like you had mapping, bought Personal, upgraded to Premium, cancelled that (which cancelled both upgrades instead of downgrading), bought Premium again, and cancelled that again. You didn’t get a proper refund for the first cancellation either. All of that happened pretty quickly, and in the meantime you were trying to post here and ended up with quite a few duplicate threads.
Here’s what I’ve done:
– I’ve made sure everything but the personal plan cost has been refunded
– I’ve re-added Personal and re-mapped the domain with that credit
– I’m finding and fixing the excess threads here
With all of the duplicate threads at least, it sounds like there maybe some kind of connection issue on your system (if it appears things are timing out but in fact they’re posting several times.) That could have been a factor in the other issues as well, and could potentially cause other problems too. So if you need more help with this, now that you have a paid plan again, can you open a chat here?
http://wordpress.com/help/contactI think that’ll be the best way to sort out any further questions. Cheers!
