Also here are a few possibilities I could think off for you to consider to understand the refund disparity you mention:
Did you register a custom domain name as a part of your website Personal plan upgrade? If so, the custom domain name was included in your plan for the first year and at renewal you pay individually for your Personal plan and for the renewal for your custom domain.
If you cancelled a separately registered domain and are not seeing a refund reflect?
WodPress.com refund period is 30 days on all upgrades, so if you cancel before 30 days, you receive a full refund. The only exception is if you’ve registered a custom domain as part of your plan – domains can only be refunded for 48 hours after registration, so if you cancel your plan after 48 hours, the cost of the domain will not be refunded.
If you cancel after 30 days you will not receive any refund, as we do not offer pro-rated refunds for unused time on a plan.
The staff will be able to look into the issue and confirm one of the above possibilities.
