  I mistakenly purchased wordpress.com when I meant to do wordpress.org, what do I do? could I get a refund and start over with wordpress.org?

  Howdy,

  It appears that you’ve recently purchased a domain name here at WordPress.com.

  If you’d like to use it with a self-hosted WordPress installation, I don’t recommend canceling the domain. You can change the name servers instead:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

  You can obtain the name server values from your new hosting provider. If you haven’t picked a host yet, we have a list of recommendations:

  You’ve registered a domain name, do you want to cancel that? Please note that the domain registrar will decide when to release the domain back into the public pool

  To point the domain you registered at WordPress.com to another server (hosting service), please follow the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers

  Note you will need to obtain the name server values from your current host. You should be able to find them on their support documentation, or contact them and ask for the information. (Name servers may be referred as “nameservers” or “NS records” instead.)
