I was unaware that my account was upgraded automatically. I have been billed $99.00 without my knowledge. I had the full intention of not renewing or updating my WordPress.com account, and thought that I was able to cancel the upgrade 12 months, not 11, after I bought the upgraded package. I’d really like this to be refunded in my account, since I no longer want to use WordPress.com

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can disable auto-renew of your domain mapping.
    Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades > Disable auto-renew

    For canceling a bundle > http://en.support.wordpress.com/bundles/#canceling-a-bundle

Refunds – We want you to love everything you do at WordPress.com, so we provide a 30-day refund on all of our upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. You can request a refund yourself directly from the Store -> My Upgrades section of your Dashboard. http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/#refunds

Note: We have the option of having our upgrades on auto-renewal and that’s what I do. WordPress.com will auto-renew 1 month prior to the expiry date so if anything goes wrong we have time to straighten it out and not lose the domain in the process.

But I’m unable to refund. I’m sorry – I think this unacceptable.

I have disabled auto-renew, but it’s the fact that I was unaware I was auto-renewing ONE MONTH before I thought I had to renew.

Although the renewal begins a month prior to expiry we still get 12 months. This thread is flagged for a Staff response.

When a domain is involved and auto-renew is enabled, we renew the domain or bundle a month in advance, as a simple failed transaction could result in the loss of the domain if we waited for the expiration date.

If you’d like, I can cancel and refund the bundle minus the domain for $73.

As for the domain, if we cancel the domain, it can take up to several weeks, and we can’t guarantee that your domain will be available to you again once canceled.

If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it.

Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page.

Of course, I can also cancel and refund the whole bundle with domain for $99 if you don;t mind the chance of losing phiendly.com.

Please let us know how you’d like to proceed!

I don’t think I’ll need the domain any more. So, a refund of $99 would work out.

Just a caution on the domain name and mapping – once it goes away your traffic will drop like a rock since search engines and your visitors have gotten used to using the custom domain name and they will have a hard time finding your site – you are an active blogger so just wanted to caution you on that part

I have canceled and refunded your bundle with domain as requested.

When exactly will the money be refunded into my back account?

The refund left our account yesterday, and depending on your credit card provider, should appear on your statement within 10 days.
