Refund for a premium theme
-
I tried to get a refund for a premium portfolio theme that I purchased less than a week ago, and it’s telling me that I have exceeded the 30 day refund period. I really need an answer on this—I’m so sick of running in circles.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’m sorry that’s happening to you. Let’s explore the situation and see what’s going wrong please.WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers. The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours.
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrade (premium theme) for it, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
See here:
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades

The issue is that it’s saying I recently purchased the Modern News theme, which is what I’ve had for years. It’s giving me the option to refund that, but I don’t want to. I recently purchased the Creative Portfolio theme, and that’s what I want a refund for. Instead of a refund, I would also be willing to pay the extra $20 and refund to the premium so I have access to all the themes and customer service. But you can see that my sight as been Modern News theme forever and that’s the only thing that it’s allowing me to refund.

The Creative Portfolio theme does not exist here at WordPress.COM. There is no FTP access to our WordPress.COM hosted blogs and we cannot upload any third party themes into WordPress.COM hosted blogs. There is no upgrade we can purchase that changes that reality.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/To install plugins or third party themes into a site then you have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

YIKES! I was wrong. I just found that theme here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/creative-portfolio/
The bottom line is you have to make a separate purchase for that theme.

Hi there! I see a recent renewal of the Premium plan and a recent purchase for the theme Creative Portfolio.

I’m happy to refund that theme purchase for you. Just reply to confirm that you’d like me to go forward with that! :)

I’ve figured it out. I have no idea what I was doing before. Now I have one more question. Recently I upgraded to premium for $99, but now there’s a $199 special on business grade. Would it be possible to knock the $99 I already paid off that price and upgrade? I’m sorry this is an entirely different thread.
-
It actually doesn’t expire until June of 2016. So I’m not sure how I’m not still within the 30 period there.

You’re within the refund period on both of the upgrades I mentioned. We’ve been having a bit of trouble with our theme refunds though. I’ll have to manually refund it if you’d like to do that. :)
The $199 is the discounted price since you’ve purchased the Premium plan. We offer that price to anyone who’s upgraded to Premium so that the price you paid for Premium isn’t double charged if you upgrade to Business.
Hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

Ooooh okay. Thank you for bearing with me here. Then I’d like to cancel the portfolio theme, as we discussed, then I’ll go ahead and upgrade to Business. Sorry…very long day.

No worries! Tuesdays are hard. :)
I’ve just refunded that theme purchase. It normally takes around a week for a refund to appear on your bank statement.
And I see you’ve purchased the Business upgrade already! You’ll have access to live chat 7am-7pm EST Monday through Friday. Feel free to start a conversation through the Live Chat pop up in the corner of your screen at any time! :)
Let me know if I can help with anything else!
