Refund for domain
-
I cancelled my domain shorty after registering (well within the 48 hour window) but did not see the ‘cancel and refund’ button. Will I still receive the refund?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi jenniegreer181017!
I have tagged this thread with modlook for a Staff member to assist.
Thank you!

I don’t think you can get a refund for domain as it is registered with ICANN. You may not renew it next year, but as much I know you won’t get a refund for a domain.

Hi jenniegreer181017,
I’d be happy to issue a refund for the domain.
Before I do so, I just want to check whether you need to use the domain elsewhere? Once a domain has been cancelled there is no guarantee you will able to register it again. For this reason, we only recommend cancelling jenniegreer.com if it’s no longer needed. If you need the domain, we may be able to recover it.
If you are happy for me to go ahead and issue a refund, just reply to me here and I’ll sort that out for you.
Thanks!

Hi there,
I actually do want to use it elsewhere. Are you able to reinstate the domain? I already cancelled it. Thanks so much for your help!

Hi jenniegreer181017,
Are you able to reinstate the domain? I already cancelled it.
Because you contacted us quickly, I’ve been able to restore jenniegreer.com to your site:
https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/
I actually do want to use it elsewhere.
There are two options for using the domain elsewhere:
1. Keep the domain with WordPress.com and point the name servers to your new site.
2. Transfer the domain away from WordPress.com to another registrar.
Newly registered domains can only be transferred 60 days after the registration date. This 60 day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived. If you want to use the domain elsewhere before then, the name servers can be changed to point to your new site.
Which of those options would you prefer?
I’m happy to answer any questions you have.

Thanks so much. I’d like to transfer the domain away, but for now, am happy to keep it with wordpress and point to new site, and then transfer after 60 days.

Great! You can ask your new hosting provider for their name servers and you’re welcome to reply here if you have any questions about adding updating them :)
