Refund for upgrade and domain registration
-
I started my WP blog and purchased a domain in January. Yesterday I purchased an upgrade (which includes domain registration, but I already had that) but quickly realized that I actually want to do a self-hosted wp. No problem, just request a refund, right? Except that when I do, it says I’ll only get $53 of the $79 back, since $26 paid for a domain registration, and I’ve had my domain for more than 3 months. Since I’d already paid for that domain outside of the $79 upgrade I’d like all of my money back, but can’t find any way to contact ANYONE about this other than posting in a forum. A “how can I help you” window popped up at one point but once I started typing it just disappeared… so… happiness engineers, HELP!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.
The refund period for Domain Registrations and Renewals is 48 hours. https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrade, and you are within the allowed time frame for refunds, you can cancel and request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades. You can also disable auto-renew there. http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades
See here:
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades

Thank you timethief, I’m subscribed. I’ve read all about the refund policy, the problem is I’m essentially being charged twice for my domain registration. I’m still in the 48 hour window to receive my refund for the upgrade/registration, but since I already owned the domain from when I paid for that separately in January it isn’t refunding the full upgrade from yesterday. Hopefully staff can help resolve it- it is just a bit irksome to have no real way to contact a real person.

no real way to contact a real person.
I am real person. :(
Everyone answering questions here is human being. :)You posted here before the time limit expired so you do not have to worry about that. Yes Staff can resolve this and they will do so. Also know you are not the only blogger who has ever posted here on this issue so you can relax. :)
This thread is tagged for Staff and they have a backlog. What’s required is your patience as Staff work through all forum threads tagged for their attention and through all email support tickets in chronological order based on datestamps and timestamps – first posted first served, as would be expected.
How long it takes to clear the threads and support tickets depends on how many Happiness Engineers are working on them at any given point in time. It also depends on how complex the issues in each thread and ticket are are.
Please don’t bump your thread here by posting into it again because it’s not in your best interest to post to it after it has been tagged for Staff help. Doing that moves the timestamps forward and it takes longer to get a response.

Hi there.
I’ve gone ahead to fully refund the $79 cost of your WordPress.com Premium plan. Please note, it usually takes a few days for a refund to process and appear on a statement.
The reason you weren’t offered the full refund was that, after you’d upgraded to Premium, helloholli.com was renewed for an extra year so that it’s new expiry date became the 5th January, 2017. This shouldn’t have happened as you were given the discounted price when purchasing WordPress.com Premium: $79 instead of the full $99. Our system detected that the domain had been renewed for two years and therefore took the extra price off your refund. Not your fault at all, but I thought you might be interested in what went on here.
Hope this helps! Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any extra questions.
