Refund if I transfer?

    Hello. I am thinking about moving my blog/site to a self hosting site, hostgator (maybe)… I see I have 6 months remaining on what I have already purchased through wordpress.com. IF I moved to a self hosted, would I get a credit back for any thing I purchased through wordpress.com?

    Hi there,

    We only offer refunds for purchases made within 30 days. Since your purchase was made 6 months ago, I’m afraid we can’t offer a refund. However, even if you’re moving to a self-hosted site, the time remaining for your domain registration will still be applicable.

    So, for example, if you transfer your site and your domain to HostGator following the instructions below, you’ll still be asked to pay for a domain renewal. However, the domain would then be good through 3/18/16 (another year added to the end).

    Does that make sense? You won’t be losing out on your purchase by transferring.
