Refund of automated payment
-
I tried to stop a payment to WordPress on the day the ‘pre-authorisation’ figure appeared on my Paypal account. I thought the correct process was to contact Paypal and stop the payment. They failed to do this, so I raised a dispute with my credit card provider. I then received an email from WordPress saying that if I cancelled the dispute I would receive a refund. I’ve cancelled the dispute but still havent received a refund. Can anyone point me in the direction of how to get a refund? The help pages say to visit here, but AFAIK, this is a forum, not a support area :(

I’m sorry to hear that you were having trouble getting this refund. That is not what we aim for!
I have processed that refund for you. Please be aware that it can take up to 7-10 business days for refunds to show up on your statement.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Hi. Ive waited 10 business days but have still not received a refund as advised. Please can you let me know where it is in the system?

I apologize for the trouble. I believe this may have something to do with the canceled dispute. We are looking into it and I will let you know as soon as we have tracked down the issue.

I’m afraid I have bad news. While it looked like the dispute was canceled on our end, it turns out that it is still pending a response from your bank. So, our hands are tied until they complete the dispute process. Frustratingly, this can take up to 1-2 months.
You might try contacting your financial institution and asking them if there is anything they can do to speed up the process.

That’s rather annoying. I received an email from WordPress asking me to cancel the dispute to that you wouldnt be charged the $20.. sigh. Thanks for helping so promptly. I will contact my financial institution.
If I did nothing, would it automatically get refunded, or do I need to ask again in a month?
Thanks! -
If the bank decides in your favor, it should be automatically refunded. If not, then I expect you’ll need to talk to us again, I’m afraid.
Again though, I’d encourage talking to your financial institution and seeing if they can hurry things along.
