Refund Within Window but Outside of AI’s Ability
-
Has anyone else ever rushed to cancel their Premium WordPress plan before finding instructions on how to request the refund?
Storytime: I was reassessing my finances, when I noticed that I was unnecessarily paying for WordPress Premium and decided to do away with it expeditiously. After cancelling the plan, I decided to request a refund. Backwards? Possibly. However, we do not question the way that I operate unless it causes great harm. (possible foreshadowing) Plus, with the existence of customer service you can always speak to someone to get it resolved right away. Right? Yeah no. I forgot it’s 2024 and not 2014. We got AI now and this kind of scenario was not incorporated into the AI’s system programming. Hehehe. Yay. *hope you read that in a sarcastic tone* When I searched refund in the support section. I luckily discovered that I would have needed to request the refund BEFORE cancelling my plan. (Insert face palm here)
Important information you actually need: Since I cancelled my Premium Plan today and it was charged on November 21st, I was still within the 14-day refund window for annual plans and should be eligible for a refund. However, since I cancelled the plan before knowing the instructions for the refund, I was no longer able to follow the instructions to request a refund.
Regardless of this, the AI was no longer eligible to assist me with the problem. This resulted in an infinite loop of me asking to “connect me to a human” while it reiterated “It sounds like you want to talk to a human. Human support is only available for our paid plans. For community support, visit our forums:”. Now that you spent some time reading my beautiful battle with myself and AI, I’m sure you can understand my lack of patience and well of frustration. Waiting for a forum response in this situation didn’t seem like the best solution, but I digress as it seems as though I have no other choice…
I hope you enjoyed my short/long story.

A lot of words for nothing. When you cancel a plan within the refund window, you automatically gets a refund if and only if you are eligible. A refund usually takes up to 10 business days, however banks outside the USA usually need a lot more of time.
You find all info at https://wordpress.com/support/refunds/

It saddens me that you didn’t like my cute little soliloquy. It looks like I will receive a refund soon though. Thanks for your comment. :)

Hi sipsteaanditsunsweet –
I’ve reviewed the account and can confirm that we processed a full refund of $96.00 on 2024-11-21. You should receive that in about ten business days from when it was processed. If there’s a delay, the first thing you’ll want to do is check with the specific bank/card provider about their timeline and how it will appear on the statement. Sometimes it shows up as a reversal and not as it’s own, new, line item. Please write back if you need more help from us.
Take care.
