Refunds not automatic?

I was on a year plan for Explorer, but then didn’t end up using the site much so cancelled the plan, and I expected to be refunded pro-rata but I didn’t get the refund?
Looking online it seems that lots of people have this exact same issue, where they have to manually request the refund. Can someone help?
