Refusal

I paid Dashawn Harris for a domain name: $30. I purchased from him: http://www.thetruthaboutsisterhood.com I then paid him 150 upfront to build this website. He did NOT build a website. Instead, he used the codes I supplied to him from canvas.com. He used WordPress to accomplish this. Because he did not ‘build’ a website and instead there is a scroll right tragedy magazine, I requested access to my domain to get this corrected and have a REAL website. This individual is refusing to release my domain name. He is using WordPress as a front to steal from people charging double or triple and then not even creating what he says. This is bad business and it makes it seem like WordPress is party to this. I want my website that I paid 30$ for back and not hosted by him.

    Self-declared URL: DREAMHOST.COM
    Jetpack: Unknown
    WP.com: Unknown

Correction it was $12.99. Being forced to pay for job not done to get my domain back, hoping it happens.

  • Hey there @msjmgambles, I’m sorry you’ve run into this trouble! WordPress itself is free code that anyone can use. We are a separate managed hosting company, and we aren’t affiliated with that individual.

The domain registration itself is also completely separate from WordPress. If he bought the name for you, you will most likely need to work with him to regain access and ensure you are the legal owner. From there, though, you can point the domain to whatever hosting service you like.

And, we do have a service that can create a site for you if you’re looking for that! We have more details here. Let us know if we can help with your hosting too! Here’s more info on the difference between the free WordPress code and our managed services:

    Hoping that helps!
