  How do I monitize my site and what is the difference between this features on a premium plan versus using WordPress.org?

  Hi there, you have numerous options to monetize your website on WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/

  For the purpose of this response, let’s assume you wish to purchase the Premium Plan as you stated, although many of the things I say you can do on self-hosted can be done on WordPress.com if you have a Business Plan.

  With the Premium Plan, you automatically get accepted into WordAds, which is the default advertising system for WordPress.com blogs: https://wordads.co

  With self-hosted WordPress, or a Business Plan, you can select any advertising provider you wish, provided you’re able to configure to their needs.

  With the Premium Plan, you get access to Simple Payments, which are effective. However, self-hosted WordPress would open up more options as you can install custom plugins, and there are many popular ecommerce plugins. An example of this is WooCommerce.
