Regaining address after I had discarded it (excuses4me.wordpress.com)

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I seem to have made a bit of a mess..

To make a long story short – I had a blog at excuses4me.wordpress.com and changed it’s address and checked the “discard current address” checkbox..
I thought that would make it available for a different blog of mine (I was in fact trying to use it for a different blog) but now it’s unavailable for all of my blogs :(

Is there any way I can regain excuses4me.wordpress.com now?

    Thanks in advance!
    Avi

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That’s not possible. Provided you are logged in under the username account that registered the blog you can delete the blog by using these instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/

Note there are 3 warnings and a verification link in an email required to delete a blog. That is because deleted blog URLs are not recycled.

You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain vis a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

Same answer everybody else gets when they ask this question so many times each day …. No.

Well I didn;t delete the blog – I only changed it’s domain checking the “Discard Current Address” checkbox (I didn’t get any email verification)

Do you know of any way to regain the domain in this case? (since the blog was not deleted)
Maybe the wordpress team has some magic “undo” button…?

Wishful thinking I know but neveryheless…
    Thanks

    Thanks!

Yeah I realize this.. Still can’t blame me for being optimistic. I saw several different answers for this topic from different dates. Some messages said that in order to change a domain of a blog you need to open a new blog and transfer the content. Yet this advice seems to be outdated – since now there //is// a way to change a domain of a blog.

This is what brought me into the mess in the firstplace – I in fact wanted to change my blog’s domain, and ended up oening a new blog with the new name and now lost the new name.. :(

My blog deals with excuses – and I have absolutely no axcuse for this mess :)

    Thanks,
    Avi

Sorry but you reached a dead end. On the day that Staff begin activating deleted blog URLs I will be standing at the head of the line-up. I’ve been here almost 7 years and I’m not holding my breath.

That answer is NOT outdated. If you’d followed those instructions, you would still have the old URL, which is what you want.

    excuses4me.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this blog.

    “The authors” was me :(

Yeah, like I said before I know I made a mess.

Anyway thanks folks, I’ll just have to make due.

All the best and happy holidays!
