Regaining Control of an Account

Hi! I would dearly love to be able to talk to a support person about trying to reclaim an account that I believe I previously had a few months to a year ago. I have tried and tried with absolutely no success with the account recovery screen. (Granted it doesn’t help that I no longer have the email account that WP was connected to.) It delightfully tells me the user name does not exist, which on another screen it tells me that it is, my email is invalid, and so on and so forth. I am not a crook. I am not a spammer or any other “devious” sort, I would just like to get back into it. Thanks!

Which account are you referring to? More to the point, as username accounts are not deleted ay WordPress.com, which blog are your referring to?

No, I did not know which blog you are “referencing” because you did not specify a blog address or reason for posting when you created this thread.

    elizabethdouglass.wordpress.com doesn’t exist
The address elizabethdouglass.wordpress.com cannot be registered. Sorry, that site is reserved! But you can sign up and choose another one.

When we register a username account the matching blog is “reserved” for our future use and there is no expiration date. Usernames can be turned into blog addresses, but blog addresses cannot be turned into usernames. For most usernames and blog addresses are the same. That reserved blog cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username.

Yes, I understand that the reserved blog can only be accessed by the person who has registered the matching name. I am that person. Are you a support member for WordPress?

    Hi there,

We have a couple of options for account recovery. I’m going to switch this to a private ticket, because we’ll need to discuss email addresses and other sensitive information.

    Cheers!
