Regarding 2015's Theme's Measurements.

  I have a question regarding the measurements for the 2015 theme. I’m currently debating between using either 2015 or 2016 as the theme for my blog/site, and there’s something about the 2015 theme I need to know to see if I think it’s the one I want to use. I like 2016 for the most part, but I can’t stand the part of the theme where the sidebar is hidden via a menu button on the top right portion of the theme.

  Anyway, onto my actual question regarding the 2015 theme. The write up for 2015 says that the main column size is 660, while the side column is 284 (if I remember correctly). My question is, are the measurements for that side column, is it it’s own thing seperate from the main column’s measurements?

  I apologize if I’m wording this incorrectly. Okay, so sometimes with some themes on WordPress, the measurements for the side column it’s own seperate things and doesn’t not eat up any of the space of the listed size of the main column, while at other times with other themes the measurements for the side column is actually part of the numbers of the main column. In this case you end up with less space in the main column than what you think you do because you bothered to to enable the side column.

  I’m wanting to know if I’m going to lose any of the 660 of the main column space for utilizing the side column of 2015 theme. I’m asking if this theme is one of those that actually has less space than you think because the measurements for the side column is counted as part of the main column space. Or not. If this makes any sense to anyone.

  The question over the amount of space I’ll actually have to use is pretty much the only thing stopping me from just selecting 2015 theme for my blog/site already and calling it a day. I know for a fact I’ll have more space with 2016, but I loathe the whole menu button/slide out side column/bar concept.

  Yes, the width of the sidebar given in the Twenty Fifteen theme guide (248 pixels) is separate from the main content width (660), which applies to the blog page, single posts, static pages, archive pages, etc. You can see how it works in the Twenty Fifteen demo.
