Regarding domain purchase and eventual renewal

Hi! I was planning to purchase a domain and change my site from .wordpress.com to .com – I understand that the fee for a year is Rs 1260, but will I also need to pay the additional USD 80 as well? And the redemption fee, is this annual?

For the first year, you’ll buy a plan. The cheapest option is our Personal Plan at Rs 2,400.

The plan includes one domain for free, so you won’t pay anything extra for the domain.
Next year, when you renew, the domain will cost extra. So then it will be Rs 2400 for the plan, plus Rs 1260 for a .com domain.
The $80 fee you’ll see mentioned in some places is a domain redemption fee. That fee only applies if you allow your domain to expire, and don’t renew it even 40 days after expiration. Once the domain is more than 40 days expired it goes into redemption at the registry, and the $80 is what we have to pay to get it back in that case.
As long as you keep auto-renewal on so we can automatically renew your domain before it expires, and make sure to check yourself that it did renew when it’s supposed to, your domain won’t enter redemption and you won’t have to pay that fee.
