Regarding purchasing domain then not renewing

    Hello! If I purchased a domain e.g: (name . blog) for a year then I decided not to renew my subscription/purchase the next year, do I automatically go back to: (name . WordPress . Com)? Or do I lose my content and start all over again? Thank you.

    Hi @dearhaneen! Glad you asked:

    • If you buy a domain and plan, then don’t renew the domain the next year, it will revert back to whatever your free underlying address is. If you’re going to do that, I’d recommend making the free address primary a few months prior to the domain expiration, just so search engines have time to fix their links.
    • If you renew the domain but not the plan, when people visit your domain, they’ll be automatically redirected to the free site address.
    • In most cases, all of your content will still be there, but upgrades (in-plan premium themes, premium CSS, plugins, etc) will go away. If you used plugins to make your content, you’ll want to take care to get your content properly converted to something that’s compatible with free sites.
