Regarding the Number of Hits

Hi In statistics it shows that the number of visits on my blog is way more than the number of hits on the post , can you please tell me why the hits on the post are so low ? Is it because the visitors are just opening the home page and not the posts page ?

  • Is it because the visitors are just opening the home page and not the posts page ?

Yes, that is exactly why the stats would show a higher number of visits than post views. If it’s important for you that the visitors open the post page, try to only display an excerpt on the homepage:

okay thanks fresatomica , but on my home page there is no information regarding the post , the visitors have to go inside the specific topics to get to the posts , is there a way that a visitor is directed to the post page when they click on the link instead of the home page

  • Yes, if you follow my colleague’s recommendation above, you can set your site’s front page to just display an except of the post. Visitors will need to click through to the post (thus resulting in a recorded visit to the post) to read the rest of it.

I don’t see content options when I click on customize my site .In the video it says that if I don’t see the content options it means that the theme I have selected does not support it .
But I do see that under “Theme Options” there are BlogSettings and Post Settings and those settings are similar to that of the Content Options settings.
As I have already selected Post Excerpt option , I do see post excerpt on the post page but not on the home page.

Here is my website link for reference:

    https://webdevlearning.com/

I have used elementor to create the content . And as you see on the homepage there are three categories and under those categories there are post excerpt. Visitors are not even going to the category page.

  • https://webdevlearning.com/ is not hosted on WordPress.com, but using the open source WordPress software at another hosting provider.

The Content Options feature is a WordPress.com feature, and only available on selected themes offered on WordPress.com. On a self-hosted site like yours you’d need to both be using one of those themes, and have the Jetpack plugin installed and connected to a WordPress.com account, to have access to that feature.

https://webdevlearning.com/ is not using one of our themes, nor is it using Jetpack, so you won’t see that option in the Customizer. Please contact support for the theme you’re using directly to find out if they have a solution for you for this.

If you were also referring to stats for that site, then that’s not being provided by us either – we only control stats collected by the Jetpack plugin. If you’re using a different plugin for stats on that site, it’s best to contact support for that plugin directly.

General support for your version of WordPress is provided by the WordPress.org community at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

I am using WP statistics plugin to get my website stats.

  • WP statistics plugin is not one of our products, so it may function differently from the stats system we use here (namely Jetpack, which supports many other features as well). For help with the plugin you’ve installed, you’ll want to contact their support:
