Regarding theme Apostrophe 2
-
Hi, I am using the theme Apostrophe 2 trying to build up a website. Can i change the width of the page or is it determined by the theme?
Is it not possible to get two types of information side by side? I have a Contact us page, where I would like a contact form on the left side and some text on the right side. I am using the free version of WP
Thanks

Every theme has a detailed theme description page. This one is at https://wordpress.com/theme/apostrophe-2 and that’s where set up instructions for it, and the live demo site link is found. Have you checked out those instructions?

P.S. The main column width is 723. The Sidebar width is 274. If you haven’t added widgets to the sidebar, Apostrophe 2 will act as a single-column theme.

A blog is a website. The difference between blog and website is simply structure and semantics.
A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it’s very attractive to search engines.
What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one-way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.
Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being page based to being post based – no upgrade required. For greater clarity read >

re: switching themes
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs.
Note that switching themes https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes can be easily done, provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the site, you tohttp://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php
*Replace NAME_OF_BLOG in that URL with the actual name of your blog. wp-admin/themes.php
We have a preview function. No content is lost when switching themes on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. It does not matter if the site is private or public. Use the customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/
