Register a domain without purchasing a business/professional plan?

Hello! I swore when I created my WordPress account, I saw an option to buy my domain for $18/year. Is that still an option? May I purchase a domain without committing to the $99/year full business account? ‘m not opposed to upgrading to a business account in the future, but I want to be sure that WordPress will work well for my needs first.
I tried a few times to register the domain, and searched the FAQ, so it may not be possible to only register the domain for a smaller fee. I’m just hoping I missed something somewhere and you folks can point me in the right direction. :)

According to staff, that option is no longer available for $18. It’s only available as part of the Premium (or Business) plan:

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard, cancel any upgrades, claim a refund for any qualified upgrades, and disable auto-renew.
