register domain with wordpress message, have bluehost

  i started a simple blog on wordpress and paid for bluehost hosting ..i am under “pro” as my preferred option… is bluehost necessary? reading information, i am getting confused…
  as word press is saying i am needing to register my domain still with wordpress

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi there! You mentioned that you have hosting through Bluehost. Did you register for a custom domain name at Bluehost, or did you sign up to have your website hosted there? Depending on your answer, I can walk you through the process.

  While you do receive a domain name by purchasing the Premium upgrade through WordPress.com, if you’ve already done so with Bluehost, we can connect your WordPress.com website to that custom domain name.

  Good Afternoon,

  I was directed to get hosting from Bluehost by a colleague and get my blog website with WordPress. I believe I did the bluehost setup first then created my account with WordPress. I received my domain name when I set up my account with Bluehost. Does this information help you for guiding me with my question?

  That is helpful. Thank you. You did receive a free domain name when you purchased your Premium upgrade, so if you care to have a secondary domain name, you’re welcome to use it in the future, FYI!

  You will now want to add mapping to essentiallyoiledliving.wordpress.com/, in order to connect your site to your custom domain name at BlueHost.

  You can do this by clicking Store → My Domains in your site’s Dashboard. Then Add a Domain. Click Map a Domain I Already Own. Then, follow the directions you’re given by our system

  You will also need to make some changes to the settings of your Domain over at Bluehost.

  started the process as you described but want to make sure it isnt costing more than i have already invested in this process. Paid bluehost and upgraded immediately to “pro” with wordpress
  not sure how to finalize linking with Blue Host… will have to investigate i guess … Thank you for your help thus far

  This will not cost you anything extra at here at WordPress.com. I am not sure if Bluehost requires a fee to map one of their domains, however. Their support staff should be able to assist you with that.

  Once you read through the document I linked, you can change your settings here, at Bluehost:
  https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/222

  In the section “Select Use Custom Nameservers,” you will want to enter WordPress.com’s name servers:
  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
