register mapped domain name with WP

    My domain name is currently registered with 1&1 and mapped to WP. I am closing my 1&1 account and want to register the domain with WP instead of 1&1. How do I do that please – cancel the DNS at 1&1, register it as a new domain name at 1&1? Will that affect anything adversely? Thanks for any help.
