Register more than 1 external blog
-
Hi all
I have registered an external blog on wordpress.com – mainly for the wordpress key, but also for the nice stats that come with an account here.
Now, the problem is that the blog I registered was on a temporary domain – and it has now moved to its final destination. So, what I need to do is (a) delete the old blog registration and (b) register the new one.
However, clicking on “register another blog” just pops up a dialog where I can create a xyz.wordpress.com blog – and there does not seem to be a function to register another external blog.I could create another user, but the username I chose has already been communicated to some other maintainers of the blog, so I don’t like to do this (and deleting a user is not possible, otherwise I would have deleted the current username and registered it anew).
How can I achieve what I want?

It doesn’t appear like anyone even looks at these post. I’m having the same problem and we are just being ignored. I think that the answer to the question would solve my problem with the WordPress.com Stats not accepting my API key for my second external blog.

We look at them, but we generally don’t answer if we don’t have an answer. I could guess, but what good would that do? Contacting staff is the best way.

Sorry, I thought that “Staff” actually looked at this forum. With so many post about this problem you would think that someone would have an answer or the FAQs would tell us something. The Org site is the same many post no answer. Thanks for your reply.

I would contact staff directly using the support tab in the upper right of your dashboard. -
This is what I get when trying to get support:
We only provide support for WordPress.com blogs here. Please go to the WordPress.org Support Forum for further help.
I have already done that and there is no support coming from WordPress.org so I guess we have to use other tools for stats.

It’s really too bad that the bloggers over at wordpress.org are not responding to your posts. I’m sure you feel frustrated but I have to concur that you seem to have little choice now other than looking for other tools.
Best wishes :) -
This is just guessing, but I wonder if there is a limit to the amount of times that you can use the API key, or if once you use it on a blog, you are limited to using it with that one blog only? I’ve used mine with Akismet on my self-hosted blog, but have not yet tried to use it to install the WP stats plugin. Perhaps I’ll try that later.

If you are hosted at ASO then know that AW stats are awesome and are probably all that you will ever need. On my wordpress.org install I used the API key for Akismet but I cannot answer this question because I have not installed the wordpress stats plugin and I don’t intend to use it. -

It’s kind of alarming that there is very little support. I even created a second WordPress.com account and tried to use the new API key in my second blog and that didn’t work. I get the same error.

I’m sorry that we have not been able to help you. Aside from looking closely at all search box results for an answer, which you have done yourself, there is nothing that volunteers answering forum questions can do to help you.
