Register New User with Existing Blog

I am helping my girlfriend setup a blog and in the process, I created it under my account with the blog URL isathea.wordpress.com. I thought it would be a trivial process to just create a few pages / change the layout etc. before handing it over to her, but when I asked her to setup her userID that is the same as the blog URL, she couldn’t. I suspect this is because I have already blocked that userID from being registered by taking the blog URL.
As a result, I am stuck with the blog still registered under my user account, and I am unable to transfer or add her as a contributor / admin unless she registers under a different userID (something she is quite reluctant to do at the moment). Is there any way I can transfer ownership of the blog and register her userID at the same time? I found that if I wanted to change the blog URL to something totally new, I can register a new user at the same time, but because I am already using my preferred blog URL, there is no way for me to register a new user with the same userID.
Can someone help me out here? Thanks in advanced.

Once a blog has been created under a given name, such as isathea.wordpress.com, it is impossible to then sign up separately for a new WordPress.com account with a username that matches, as the username is reserved for the corresponding blog owner.
To fix this:
1) Ask your girlfriend to create a new WordPress.com user account with a throwaway username (she should keep track of it temporarily but will not keep it).
2) Transfer the blog to her new account following the instructions here:
