Registered domain is showing contents of existing blog! Help!
-
Yestreday I registered a domain – digiwriterz.com as I wanted to build a site for my small business. However, now when I open this domain, it shows content of my blog luvaerie.wordpress.com.
Moreover, I can’t see any option to customize the domain ‘digiwrietrz.com’. In such a case, how will I set up my site?
What should I do? Should I delete the blog luvaerie.wordpress.com? Will it also lead to my domain digiwriterz.com being deleted? Please help me. I am in a fix. I have spent $99 for this domain. Help me please!!!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Kia,
Every domain you register at WordPress.com has to be attached to a blog like luvaerie.wordpress.com. In this case, you only have one blog on your account. In order to establish digiwriterz.com as a separate site, we’ll need to create a separate blog. Instructions on how to do that can be found here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/#adding-new-blog-to-an-existing-account
Let me know once you’ve created the new blog (like digiwriterz.wordpress.com), and I’ll move your domain over!

Hi Jeremey
I have created the new blog – digiwriterz.wordpress.com. Can you help me with the further proceedings please?
Looking forward.

Hi Khyati!
I moved the domain digiwriterz.com over to the blog digiwriterz.wordpress.com. I’m assuming you would like to move the Premium bundle currently on luvaerie.wordpress.com as well. If so, you can do so from the page here:
https://luvaerie.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades
Just follow the instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgrades
Let me know if you get stuck!

Hi Jeremey,
Thanks a ton! Everything seems in place now. :)
Just one more query:
Now if I type digiwriterz.wordpress.com it redirects to digiwriterz.com, which is understandable.
What if I want to add a blog to digiwriterz.com, say, digiwriterz.com/blog or something similar (an official business blog which is interlinked with the site) How can I do that? -
Hi Khyati,
Just to clarify, are you going to have two sets of posts on the blog digiwriterz.com? If so, we’ll need to do something a bit different. If you’re only going to have one set of posts, we can just setup a page titled “Blog” and set it as your posts page. The process is described here:
Basically, that sets up a static (non-changing) front page and then establishes a page titled “Blog” as where your posts live. We could setup a page named “Blog” that houses all of your blog posts. You can see a similar setup here:
If you’re planning on having two “types” of posts (1. Normal and 2. Business posts) for example, and I can give you some options for that!
