Registered Email Addresses to Site

  • Unknown's avatar

I am noticing there are two different login’s to word press when managing my site that is hosted on the platform. There is one that is just my overall profile and the other is to access my website to make revisions. When I go to the profile setting of my website there is an old email address associated with the site that I would like removed. When I change this to the appropriate email it says that my email is already registered and will not let me change this. Can you all assist here please?

    WP.com: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

There are two accounts you can use to access http://donnafayesbakery.com/, yes. That’s because this site isn’t hosted on our servers, but connected here via a plugin called Jetpack.

So you have access to the site using your WordPress.com username account (the one you used to post in this forum), through Jetpack. It’s possible to have multiple sites associated with this account, either through Jetpack or hosted with us directly, and you make changes to this account from https://wordpress.com/me/account

And then you have your admin user account you use to log into WP-Admin on your site. That account is unique to the site, i.e. you cannot use it to log into any other site. You make changes to that account from http://donnafayesbakery.com/wp-admin/profile.php

When I go to the profile setting of my website there is an old email address associated with the site that I would like removed. When I change this to the appropriate email it says that my email is already registered and will not let me change this.

Are you speaking of the WordPress.com account settings page, or the WP-Admin user profile page?

If the first, can you tell me the email you’re trying to change to?

If the second, this isn’t something we’re able to help with, as we don’t control your admin user account. In that case, please ask the WordPress.org community for advice in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

(You’ll need to register a WordPress.org profile to post there, as neither your WordPress.com account nor your site’s admin user account have any connection to WordPress.org. That’s just the website where the WordPress software is made and supported.)
