Registered new domain with WordPress but it’s not working

My original blog was spr0cketman.wordpress.com. Today I paid the $14.97 for registry and hosting through WordPress. I followed the instructions to update my blog address to the new domain, jodyamills.com. I then tried to go to that domain but it doesn’t seem to exist yet.
Now, if I need to be patient and wait a day or two because it takes time for things to update, that’s fine, no problem. I just need some reassurance that this is normal. I have done domain name searches on other sites and my domain still shows as available.
Any thoughts?

It can take a short while for new domains to be active and for internet connections everywhere to be able to reach them.
If your domain is still not up and running after a day or two, please contact us using the Support contact form at http://support.wordpress.com/contact/ and we’ll be happy to assist you.

Seems to be working fine now. Looking forward to reading more. Oregon’s a good place to be getting out and about. Tho’ I haven’t seen it since about 1976. I wonder has it changed much.

Wow, you’re right. I swear that, just a few minutes before I posted my question here, the domain wasn’t working! Ah well, at least it’s working now. Hey, and thanks for the replies, they’re much appreciated.
