How do I register a godaddy domain here. When I login my domain is not listed here, but I am using wordpress to build it. Is it even possible to register a godaddy domain here. I just started out a week ago and am a total newbie at this.

    Hi there,

You are using wordpress software to build your site. This forum is dedicated to wordpress.com. Check this link to know the difference between wordpress.com and wordpress.org
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

How do I register a godaddy domain here

You can map you domain with WordPress.com. Make your nameservers point to wordpress.com.
    Refer domain mapping documentation:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

    Hope that helps.

Also, you will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan. Each paid plan includes a free domain credit which can be used to map your domain.

Let me know if you have any further queries.

I have a paid WordPress.com plan. I used my domain credit when I installed to GoDaddy. Will I have to purchase another one?

When I click on My Site at the banner on the top, it says “You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.” When I click on My Site and click on the create site It and I input my website name after click on I already have a site it brings me to the purchase a plan. It doesn’t seem to recognize that I already purchased a plan so none of the menu items displayed in your solution appear.

We are not clear on exactly what you are trying to do.

Step 1 in providing your support is to determine what the domain URL is.

One cannot map to an existing domain from a wordpress.COM site that has not yet been registered.

It also sounds like you are not clear on the differences between wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG so we cannot tell which one you are referring to. They are separate and different.

What is the URL of the domain?

    @krutidugade

I have to log out. It is up to you to see to it that
    borrin7815thunderface gets the support required.

Also when I go to Reader and click on Manage Purchases the screen that appears says “You don’t have any WordPress sites yet”. When I click on the Create a site button it brings me up to select your plan screen.

When I click on My Site and then on the Create Site button and attempt to create the site I am brought to the purchase a plan page. This website doesn’t seem to recognize that I have purchased a plan already. I am thinking that everything is controlled at the GoDaddy site and that no information is shared with my account on this site.

I haven’t tried WordPress.org yet. What I am trying to do is register my GoDaddy domain on this site. I thought that it could be done. I am very new to this, as in I just got started last Saturday. I thought it would be easier to get WordPress support from this site If I was able to do that. I did a purchase from GoDaddy and am running my server from their site. Again my thought was that I could get support easier if I could register my domain here. Is that even possible? I have started setting up my domain with WordPress, so I know that it is working. When I login to my server it uses a WordPress account, but I don’t know if it is registered with WordPress or not. Well, obviously it isn’t registered here, or my profile would recognize it. I’ll try wordpress.org.

Hey there @borrin7815thunderface, you will need a paid plan to map a domain. You don’t have a paid plan on this account — in fact this account doesn’t even have any sites.

I’ll try reaching out via email to see if we can help you locate the right account, but if you already know what it is, feel free to log out, then log in again.

And then, just like @krutidugade said, if you have a plan:
    https://wordpress.com/plans

… you can click on Domains to map your domain. Then you would adjust the settings at GoDaddy so it points here.

Anyway, I’ll email for more info, but I hope that helps!

Thanks for your help here, @krutidugade and @timethief

Thank you for your help on this. I am using the same account name here as well as GoDaddy. Since I have an account with them. I’ll stay there for now. I just got confused. When I created my account on GoDaddy one of the items that came up while I was going through installation was “You need to create a WordPress account for your domain.” I then came to this website and created an account. During the installation in asked me to login to my WordPress account so I used the same name and password during installation. It appears that I have a WordPress Account at GoDaddy and one here, since they are with two separate companies the are totally separate accounts. Like I said, I just got totally confused with the way things happened. I will come here to the forums if I run into problems. I want to thank Krutidugade and time thief for their help. I’ll be back, with some more newbie questions soon. Thanks again for your help.

If you can tell us more about that, perhaps we can help clarify. Generally though, you would only need a WordPress.com account if you want to use Jetpack (a plugin that offers some WordPress.com services for WordPress.org installations.) If that’s what you’ve got, you should be OK to continue using this account.

Let us know if you need more help.
