Registering expired wordpress.com domain

    Hi there, is it possible to register a domain that has expired? I am looking to register the domain rarefinch.wordpress.com but I cant seem to be able to do this? Please let me know

    Yes, you still have time to register an expired domain within the grace period. rarefinch.com recently expired.

    For most TLDs registered through WordPress.com, an expired domain falls into a grace period for about 10 days to two weeks. During this short window, the domain can be renewed at the regular price. If you experience difficulty renewing your domain during this time, go to the Help section. There will be a link to contact Support for further assistance.

    Hi folks, I imagine you mean rarefinch.com rather than rarefinch.wordpress.com, right?

    The free domain rarefinch.wordpress.com will never expire. You can get it if the owner transfers ownership to you.

    The name rarefinch.com has very recently expired. If you are the owner, please log out and log into the correct account ASAP so you can renew the domain before it goes through its expiration process.

    If you know the owner and they want to transfer the domain to you, have them log in and renew it (so it doesn’t go into redemption, maybe you can pay them back) then we can help you get it transferred to the right account. That doesn’t take long, but to save $80 I’d recommend renewing first.

    If it’s just a domain you’d like, be aware of the process domains go through. Once the domain goes into redemption, the owner gets several weeks to exclusively re-claim the domain (with a hefty redemption fee in addition to the renewal price) before it goes up for auction. After that you could buy it at auction or try a backorder service, or just watch the domain like a hawk and buy it as soon as it becomes available. The expiration process takes about 80 days.

    In any case, domain expirations are very time sensitive. Fees could go up drastically in a day or two, so again, if you are the owner please log into the correct account right now and renew. Cheers!
