Registering private domain name but being charged $13 for domain mapping?

  I have a .wordpress.com site that I want to register as a .com. I also want the registration to be private. WordPress is telling me it costs $18 for the registration and another $8 for the privacy, but when I go to checkout, I’m being charged $13 for domain mapping. A little confused. Thanks!

  It sounds as though you followed the instructions for mapping a domain that you already own instead of registering one. Did you get the domain you wanted? If not you could apply for a refund in store and try again, following the instructions for registering a new domain.

  If you did get the domain then something went wrong with the charging!

  Thanks – I haven’t purchased it yet because I didn’t understand what was wrong. I followed the instructions for registering a new name and it even said I would be charged $18 + $8 until I was on the next page and actually about to check out. Any other thoughts?

  There are two things that you could do: either get a refund for the $13 and try again, or I could flag this thread for staff attention, and they should be able to sort out what happened. It could take them a while to get round to this thread, whereas if you try again you could do that straight away.
