Registering wordpress name

Hi I’m confused about creating my wordpress name. I was given the option buying a blog address for $17 a year. Ie I will have pavementportraits.com Does this mean I also have to pay for hosting as well? Sorry wordpress lack of support is lousy.

WP.com will host the basic blogs free on their servers. They can also make their servers respond to your domain name X and deliver the content Y for such requests. This is the non-free part. You also need to register the name, which WP can take care of for you. And that’s a little more (would be a lot more at outside registrars). If that’s the name you want, go for it. $17 a year works out to less than 5 cents a day. Name something you pay for to have each day that is less.
