Registrant Contact Information displayed on Who.is registry

I recently removed my purchase of domain. I have been getting overseas phonecalls and was wondering how they got my contact information. I later discovered that my personal information is being displayed in the open on who.is. Is there anything I can do to take down this information online?

Hi @sgwrestlingsociety, when you buy a domain we have an option for hiding your whois information. It looks like when you cancelled the domain, that was removed too, and now the domain is kind of in limbo while it goes through its cancellation process.
Do you want us to try to get it back? If so, please let us know right away.

Hi @supernovia, thank you for your reply. I have also emailed support at wildwestdomains to ask whether they could delete the domain for me. Shall I wait for their reply first? And if you get it back, will the whoisinformation be hidden?

@sgwrestlingsociety I doubt they can do that. If we can get the domain back, we can re-add the whois protection to it.

Thanks, I’ve reached out to the registrar and will let you know when we’ve got it back. Then it will take a little bit to re-add privacy, but we’ll get there. Cheers!
