    Credit card was charged twice

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Automattic Inc. https://automattic.com/ owns WordPress.com and other products like Akismet and VaultPress, etc. so this could be a charge related to one of them. It’s important to know that each charge is sent to a the registered email address for each username account so if you have more than one username account that could be confusing you. If you have a wordpress.org account and a wordpress.com account that could be confusing you.

Are you referring to a specific website? If so then what is the exact URL starting with http:// of the site you refer to please?

  • Hi @juliet925, we’ll be investigating this for you.

  • @juliet925 in the meantime, can you clarify whether you intend to keep the domain or not? It appears to have been added and removed a few times.

Yes I want the domain that I was trying to register yesterday.

  • Thanks @juliet925, noted. I’ll let you know as soon as this is solved.

  • Hi, just to update you here, we’ve found the source of the problem. You have credit in the account to buy the domain once that’s taken care of. We’ll keep you updated.

I now have 5 different receipts for one domain registration #19062695, 19062417, 19062376, 18836289, 18836195 the last one I was charged $8 to my credit card

  • Hi @juliet925, most of those were paid with credits rather than actually charged to your card. Your account has been unable to register domains for whatever reason until just now.

So you paid for a domain once; it didn’t register. You tried paying for it again, this time with credits, and it also didn’t register. Later you tried buying a new domain. The price had gone up by $8 so you were charged that, and paid for the rest in credits. It still did not register, so the credits were put back on your account as before. You’ll likely have receipts for each attempt (including the attempts on my side.)

But we’ve finally found and fixed the root issue, so now your new domain is registered. If you want to get the older one too, you may.

Now I just got 2 more receptacle for the same domain, #19064796 ,19064784 . That’s now 7 receipts for one domain registration

  • All of the previous receipts had failed. This final one worked.

I’m just really confused by all the receipts , I know my credit card was only charged once . I only need one domain name registered . I don’t know what you mean by the earlier one ? I just want one domain with one receipt if I had some credits in my account that I didn’t know about I don’t want those to be used up for some reason . Why am I getting all these receipts today ? I haven’t touched the site in 2 weeks as I was waiting to see if this got sorted out.

  • I’m just really confused by all the receipts , I know my credit card was only charged once . I only need one domain name registered .

Each receipt came from an attempt to register the domain, including my attempts in trying to solve this for you. I finally figured out the problem and solved it .

You have just one domain registered, and you only need one receipt. Please use that last one and disregard the rest.
