Registration Forms
-
I’m the webmaster for my local municipality’s website and I’m looking for a way to create and add customized, yet basic, forms to our website, http://www.traffordborough.com. The end user would fill out the custom fields and click “submit” then the form would be emailed to a predetermined email address or in a report/list.
I’ve spent a few years looking for this option. I would like to do this at no charge to my local taxpayers’ expense if possible.
Thank you.

Hi there,
To add a contact form to a WordPress site, you need a plugin, as this isn’t something that comes built into WordPress by default.
Here on WordPress.com we use the contact form from the Jetpack plugin, which is pre-installed on all WordPress.com sites, so that’s an option you can look at:
Other popular options are the Contact Form 7 plugin (you can search for it at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/) or Gravity Forms. You should also be able to embed forms from online services like Google Forms, Crowdsignal or JotForm.
For more options and advice, please ask the WordPress.org community in their forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/. They’re the people who make the open source WordPress software you’re using, as well as plugins for that software, so might know of more options beyond the ones I mentioned here :)

Thank you for the info. There are three Jetpack plugins. Which one would help what I’m trying to do?

There’s actually seven :D
For the contact form you need the full Jetpack plugin:
The contact form is part of the free version of Jetpack, so you don’t need to buy a paid plan to use it.
Install that plugin on your site, and once you activate it, follow the prompts to connect to your WordPress.com account. This connection is required for most of Jetpack’s features, including the contact form, to work.
