Regretted domain change
-
Hello,
I was working on revamping an old blog site (with a now retired theme that I’m very fond of) and wanted to use as my ‘main’ blog. I’d had a separate site (all under the same wordpress account, using the basic free domain addresses) that was using my main social media handle, which I wanted to instead use on the planned main site so I changed it believing it would now be available to use. I have now realized that this isn’t the case, and it’s become unavailable. Is there any grace period in which I could change back to this domain using the same site it was attached to or is completely unavailable forever? I wouldn’t really mind if it wasn’t what I use on basically every single platform.Thank you for your time!
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to moderators and staff)

Hey there,
If the site was recently deleted, we can probably get the address back for you. You’ve deleted a few sites recently, too, so can you let us know which one you needed? We’ll see what we can do.
Do note this process isn’t possible with username changes, though, so if you want another username I’d recommend signing up for another account with an email alias or a different address. Just as a preemtive FYI on that! :)

Hi,
It’s regarding the domain name ethitone(.wordpress.com) ! I actively didn’t delete said site, just changed the name and now can’t change back due to the name being unavailable. If it would be possible to be able to use it again, that would be great!
Thank you for your helpful response, I was feeling very stressed and silly for not realizing ’till it was too late how domain names work on wordpress!

https://ethitone.wordpress.com has been recovered.
There isn’t a way to change a site to a deleted or existing address, but you can export https://wordpress.com/support/export/ and import your content: https://wordpress.com/support/import/#import-content-from-another-word-press-site

Thank you so SO much for all your help! Truly saved me a lot of stress (and having to come up with a new name, was wracking my brain for hours!)
